As many of you know by now, Georgeo Kerpani is leading a community wide effort to place holiday lighting on the Oceanside Pier and the Harbor Bridge. He has appeared at the MainStreet Morning meetings, civic club meetings, Oceanside City Council meetings, and appealed to many business people throughout the community. Georgeo also paid for and hosted a booth at the annual Harbor Days festival where he collected over $600 in cash donations from attendees.
Georgeo's goal is to raise enough money to put beautiful holiday light fixtures on the existing light poles at the Oceanside Pier and the Harbor Bridge. Utilizing state-of-the-art LED lights, the estimated cost to light each of these fixtures for the entire holiday season is only $2.88!
The project is being overseen by the MainStreet Oceanside Board of Directors and all funds will be processed through the Main Street Foundation. The Main Street Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation and all donations to the Holiday Lighting Fund are tax deductible (consult your tax advisor). 100% of all proceeds will be used for this project.
Georgeo's fundraising efforts were kicked into high gear by a generous $1000 donation from Sandy and Carleton Lund of The Lund Team which was matched by Kurt Kinsey at Blue Pacific Realtors. Additional large donations have since come from 333 Pacific ($500), Harney Sushi ($500), Rotary Club of El Camino Real ($500), Georgeo Kerpani ($400), Dolly Daley ($300), Dorothy's Military Shop ($250), G.I. Joe's Army-Navy Surplus ($200), Pier View Market ($200), Firewater Saloon/Pier View Pub ($200), and Haunted Head Saloon ($125). $100 donations have come from Shirley Bedard, At The Beach, Mail Boxes of Oceanside, Inner World, Kathy Baker, North County Printers/Bryant & Dwyer Signs, John and Jeannie Daley, 101 Cafe, Bonsall Petroleum Construction Inc., Escondido Sand and Gravel, LLC, San Luis Rey Rotary Club, William and Evangeline Rego, Glenn Erbe, Elliott and Patricia Elledge, Mark and Leanna Landers, Suzanne Williams, Sharon Sheafe, Vernon Tools, Elle Consulting and L & Gertrude.
Fundraising goes into the final stretch
Due to the seasonal nature of the holiday decorations, we must make final arrangements with the lighting company soon. To date, Georgeo has raised $7126. We are still several thousand dollars short of reaching our goal.
