Eugenia Bizarro
Eugenia
Bizzaro is "da man" so to speak , at least when it comes to
promotions at the Oceanside Regal Theatre. She is also a
current board member of MainStreet Oceanside, served on the
Calif. Surf Museum board, a producer at the Sunshine
Brooks, a volunteer fund raiser, a fine artist, and never
seems to stop moving, both in her profession and her life.
Her peripatetic life started as a self described "Air force
brat." Originally Eugenia hailed from New York but
graduated from Cal State Fresno with a major in art and a
minor in drama. Using that education, she has worked in
almost every segment of the theatre including scene and set
design for the Fresno Memorial Theatre and producing "The
Price" a play by Arthur Miller here at our own Sunshine
Brooks Theatre. Eugenia and her husband, Blane, moved to
Oceanside 10 years ago because of her husbands work in the
Vista area. Once Eugenia saw the pier, the beaches, and the
potential of our downtown, she fell in love with Oceanside.
Ten years later she is still enamored.
In her role as the promotions manager of the Oceanside
Regal theatre, Eugenia is helping the Regal become part of
our community by participating in fund-raisers, and working
with groups like the YMCA. Recently YMCA children from
dysfunctional homes were given a chance to draw pictures of
the up and coming movie, "The Alamo,"with all winners
treated to snacks and the movie. These contests have
allowed over a thousand children to participate since the
Regal's opening in 1999. The current promotion is free
family movies, rated G and PG, at 10AM every Tuesday and
Wednesday all summer long. Regal has theatres in over 500
complexes throughout the U.S. and Eugenia feels they
constitute an important part of any city's downtown hub.
"Certainly we have begun seeing more families in the
downtown area. Many times, the theatre is the first
destination, with dinner and snacks in downtown after the
movie. The Regal is definitely an asset."
If you enjoy the theatre and would like to use the facility
for your fund raisers or a function, call the Regal at
(760) 439-1327 and ask for Eugenia. She's always available
with lots of enthusiasm and ideas to link the community
with the Regal Theatres Corporation. Eugenia keeps moving.
Working with her husband, Blane, filling in as a ticket
taker at the Regal or attending an MSO board meeting, she
keeps moving. It's nice to have someone with so much energy
as part of our community.
