MainStreet Oceanside is once again thrilled to host the 8th Annual Arts Alive Banner Project!
Local artists participate by creating one of a kind banners depicting what Oceanside means to them.
This year’s theme is "Oh, Oceanside!"
Oceanside’s
Arts Alive event is one in over 30 California cities which
promote art and community in their own unique way by
hanging the 30" x 84" vinyl banners along Coast Highway.
The idea promotes driving the coast and walking the streets
to view each city’s banners; bringing art and
community together in our downtowns. This spring, take a
tour of Downtown Oceanside where original Arts Alive banner
paintings for 2008 will brighten our streets from February
3rd thru May 10th. The banners will hang on Coast Hwy.
north of Wisconsin Ave and on Mission Avenue from Nevada
Street to Pacific Street. The banner project culminates in
the annual Arts Alive Banner Auction and Freedom Days
Parade fundraiser. This year’s auction will be held
on May 16, 2008. At the fundraiser, banners are auctioned
off and proceeds are split 50/50 between the artist and
MSO. The money raised by the Arts Alive portion of this
event goes directly into promoting the arts in Downtown
Oceanside and helps offset the costs for this year’s
project.
