This is the most common question asked about this event. Unfortunately, there is no easy answer. On July 4th, over 100,000 people will have gathered for the 9:00 p.m. fireworks show. Downtown Oceanside and the surrounding areas have a huge capacity to provide parking for event attendees. The following are some tips that we have collected to help you with your quest for parking.
1) ATTEND ON JULY 3rd
If you don't absolutely have to see the fireworks show, the crowds should be much more manageable on July 3rd. You can still enjoy the street fair, carnival and free concerts in the Pier Plaza Amphitheater.
2) ATTEND EARLY
Regardless of which day you attend, parking is closer and more available early in the day.
3) THINK OUT OF THE BOX
Most attendees will come down Mission Avenue and attempt to find parking within a few blocks of this main artery. Try approaching the venue from North or South Coast Highway. Look for parking four or five blocks north or south of Mission Avenue near Coast Highway. This will put you within five to ten short blocks from the venue. This strategy will also help you avoid the inevitable gridlock that occurs when the Oceanside Police Department closes Mission Avenue at Coast Highway around Noon on July 4th.
