WHERE DO I PARK?
This is the most common question asked about this event.
Unfortunately, there is no easy answer. On July 4th, over
100,000 people will have gathered for the 9:00 p.m.
fireworks show. Downtown Oceanside and the surrounding
areas have a huge capacity to provide parking for event
attendees. The following are some tips that we have
collected to help you with your quest for parking.
1)
ATTEND EARLY
Parking is
closer and more available early in the day. If you DO come
later in the day (after noon), plan on parking EAST OF
COAST HIGHWAY.
Some of the beach lots will be closed and all parking close
to the beach, west of the railroad tracks, is expected to
be taken up by 7:00 a.m. Parking will be on a first
come/first served basis and the streets west of the tracks
will be closed by 9:00 a.m. Vehicles inside the closed area
will not be permitted to leave, so if you plan on parking
west of the tracks, you will not be able to move your
vehicle until after the fireworks as the streets will be
closed to all moving traffic.
2)
THINK OUT OF THE BOX
Most attendees will come down Mission Avenue and attempt to
find parking within a few blocks of this main artery. Try
approaching the venue from North or South Coast Highway.
Look for parking four or five blocks north or south of
Mission Avenue and east of Coast Highway. This will put you
within five to ten short blocks from the venue. This
strategy will also help you avoid the inevitable gridlock
that occurs when the Oceanside Police Department starts
closing streets later in the day.
3)
USE COMMON SENSE AND RESPECT THE SIGNS.
All the normal parking restrictions that you would find on
any other day are in effect on July 4th. Don't block
driveways; don't park in red zones; don't double park;
respect all of the parking signs. PLEASE RESPECT ALL "ROAD
CLOSED" SIGNS.
